locked out

May 10, 2009 · 1 Comment

So as some of you may know, I am moving into a new house soon, so everything has been a bit hectic. I am currently living in a house temporarily (long story), so I need to have make-shift arrangements. Due to the size of my wardrobe, I had to make some space practical to put it in, so I ended up making my very own closet in the attic. So to begin what had happened today when I was getting dressed, is I am walking down the steps from the attic, and by some force of habit, as I walk out of the stairwell, I locked the door on the inside and shut the door. Now, I am locked out of my attic. You might say yeah… just get the key. But in this house, this is what the door handle looks like:

So, as a “NOOOOOOooooo” is bellowing in slow motion in my head as the door shuts, I begin to panic. I stare blankly at the door handle. Is there any screws? No. It’s just a door handle, locked, with a tiny hole on the outside. So, I convince myself there has to be a reason behind this little hole. Off I go to get a paper clip and wriggle around with it, but nothing. Let me get something longer.

*Aaaaaaah* (Heavenly tone). A misshapen hanger. Luckily I was able to find a hanger in the house in this thin metal style. And then comes my second try of wriggling and wangling with this little hole (ayo).

So after a while, SUCCESS IS MINE! IT OPENS! The feeling of accomplishment. The moral of the story is, if you have a hanger, you have an entry to a locked door!

And here’s a sneak peak of some of what this handle opens to…

Recently came across this video by Nyle. I have never heard of Nyle before, but this video is  definitely a boost to his recognition. First of all, the video itself is just really impressive and interesting. Recently I have been getting into cinematic moods with the urge to chop up some video footage, but this video was able to stay interesting in one continuous roll! What’s even more impressive is that this was taken in one take. The song is definitely entertaining and gives off an uplifting mood. I try not to link too much videos on the blog, but I have just been replaying this one over and over so up it goes! NYLE.

Blackheath funfair, London, England

Here are some amazing photographs by Jason Hawkes. Aerial photography has always interested me. A view from above is a completely different perspective which is a rare experience for a human. It’s great how simplistic everything can look from a different view. I would definitely like to pursue some type of aerial photography, but two problems: one, I’m scared of heights and two, I’m definitely not getting on a helicopter and dangling (wangling) outside of it. I also like to see this technique used in movies. The first example that comes to mind is the scene in Kill Bill in the kitchen before The Bride kills Vernita Green. Anyway, I would definitely like to see more photography shot from this perspective, particularly in a more urban environment, as I find those to be the most interesting. For more of Jason Hawke and his aerial photography, check out his website.

This Wednesday I decided to hit up the city. Yes, a weekday is an odd day for me to go to the city, but I had a Barney’s gift card that was about to expire the next day and I didn’t have work so I figured why not? Niiice weather, so I decided on making the trip. I just downloaded an ill album so I upped it on my ipod so that I could give it a good listen on the ride, and headed out. I was listening to Jazz Libertorz:: Clin d’oeil.

I CAN’T GET ENOUGH JAZZ-HOP!! Jazz hip-hop fusion is the illest shit. seriously. Anyway, I ran into this dude Jean when I was at Barney’s which was mad weird. Story; I met him once a long ass time ago when I was doing the usual city route, and then I ran into him again on my birthday (Decemeber 7) when I was in the city. This guy is a fashion guru. The time it was on my birthday, he was personal shopping for this rich kid and his dad from Canada who apparently owned the original PNB Nation if I remember correctly. They were shopping in BAPE and the funny shit was me, Evan and Rane were egging em on to just buy mad shit. Regardless, Jean is a super nice dude, and thought it was dope that I ran into him and he remembered me aswell. ended up copping an Engineered Garments bucket hat, along with a RRL belt (no pictures right now).

distraction is an obstruction for the construction

April 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

MAD pictures from this weekend, but cannot post yet.. busy, but primary reason is my computer ran out of space. Need to buy an external hard drive. When I take photos, I tend to take  a lot, and I’m one of those people who don’t like to throw anything out (including on my computer). I can barely even use photoshop on my computer without it telling me to clear room.
So anyway… this week starts me off in school again. I like having the free time when I’m not in school (who doesn’t?), the feeling when there is absolutely nothing to do. This time is valuable (even if I let it glide by), as it allows me to focus on what I’d really like to learn or do. It makes room for more knowledge of self and productive energy. This constructiveness can be seen in the revamped EB webstore. A signature thing for me to do during long periods of off-time is watch movies. I always like watching movies and increasing my cinema awareness. Reservoir Dogs, The Science of Sleep, The Edukators, and V for Vendetta were the choices of the week. All amazing movies, moving under the favorite category. Well, it is a monday, so I better get to homework (or at least say I’m going to do homework, but really just procrastinate and enter my own dreamworld consisting of a cardboard city).

Hit up Barneys New York the other week, haven’t been there in forever! Had to pick up some summer-y shiett. Lighting in my house sucks, the Bedford Jacket and the pattern shirt colors are a bit more washed out than shown. All shoes from BUTTER (and all shoes were worn pre-photo, lol).
